There is less than one month left to nominate your inspirational young person.

Nominations are now being sought for Wyre’s most inspirational young people for the annual presentation.

Every year the Mayor of Wyre presents the prestigious Sheraton Trophy to a rising star who has brought pride to the borough as a result of their achievements.

And Wyre Council wants to hear about young people who have excelled in any walk of life, be it sport, the arts, community work, volunteering or achievement against the odds.

One deserving winner, chosen by outgoing Mayor Councillor Ron Shewan, will be presented with the trophy at the council’s annual meeting on Thursday May 21.

Last year’s trophy was awarded to Brandon Evans from Preesall who set up the Preesall Dog Fouling Challenge to tackle dog fouling in his community.

He created a Facebook page to get others involved in the challenge and received fantastic support from local residents.

His dedication to raising awareness of the problem and his encouragement to dog owners to be more responsible earned him the prestigious accolade.

To nominate your inspirational young person for this year’s Sheraton Trophy, email andrea.mullin@wyre.gov.uk or write to Andrea Mullin, Wyre Council, Civic Centre, Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, FY6 7PU.

Entries should reach eith address by the deadline at 5pm on Friday April 3.
