Man seriously injured after assault outside Lancaster pub

A man was assaulted and knocked unconscious outside a Lancaster pub.

Police are appealing for information after a fight between two groups of men outside the Sir Richard Owen Pub on Spring Garden Street at 10.55pm on Thursday, December 17.

The victim – a 25-year-old man from Lancaster - was punched and fell to the floor banging his head which caused him to fall unconscious.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he received treatment for a bleed to his brain. He has since been released.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time. DC Gill Topping from Lancaster CID said: “This was a nasty assault which resulted in a man sustaining a bad head injury which was so serious he had to be hospitalised.

“If you were in the area at the time and saw the altercation between the groups or you recognise the description of the men below, please get in contact with us.”

One of the men involved in the fight is described as a white male in his early twenties with short dark hair. He was wearing a black waterproof jacket with a hood and dark jeans.

A second man is described as a white male in his early twenties with short dark hair. He was thought to be wearing a light sports jacket and jeans.
