Man rescued from flat blaze

A man was rescued after a fire broke out in a flat in Heysham.

Emergency services were called to Fairfield Road at about 8.30pm on Friday, to reports of a fire in the kitchen of a flat.

Two fire engines and crews from Lancaster, and an engine and crew from Morecambe, went to the scene, where it was reported that somebody may have been trapped inside.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man and put out the fire using a hosereel jet.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance.
