A man was rescued from a flat in Leyland after a fire broke out.

Fire crews were called to Towngate at about 2.30am on Friday, where a blaze had broken out in a ground floor flat, with reports of somebody trapped inside.

Firefighters, with breathing apparatus, forced entry to the flat and brought out a man who was conscious and breathing, and cared for by paramedics.

The fire was put out using a hosereel jet, and a fan was used to remove smoke from the flat.
