Rescue operation for man 'dangling' from electricity pylon

Emergency services are working to rescue a man spotted "dangling" from an electricity pylon in Hutton.

Fire service, police and air ambulance crews are at the scene on Liverpool Road, close to the playing fields of All Hallows Catholic High School.

It is understood that the man is alive and National Grid engineers are working alongside emergency service colleagues to rescue him from the precarious position.

It is not known whether he has suffered any injuries.

A spokesman for the National Grid said: “We are aware of a person having climbed a pylon near Penwortham.

"We have switched off the overhead line and the emergency services are on site dealing with the situation. Local power supplies are not affected."
