A major search for a Preston man missing in Ravenglass, Cumbria, was resumed yesterday.
Police believe John Allen, 76, may have been trying to help his dog out of the water.
He was last seen at Ravenglass Estuary at around 9am on Monday.
He is 5ft 8in, slim and is bald. He was wearing a green fleece, green suede trousers and walking boots.
A search took place at Ravenglass Estuary at low tide on Monday at 6pm, involving mountain rescue teams, Coastguard, Cumbria Fire and Rescue officers, Cumbria Nuclear Constabulary officers, the National Police Air Service and Cumbria Police officers.
Another low tide search took place yesterday morning by the police and coastguard.
A underwater search took place yesterday and there was be a further shoreline search last night at low tide.
