A PROPERTY management firm has tabled plans for a major expansion.
Places for People has put forward proposals to develop part of South Rings Business Park in Bamber Bridge, where its regional hub is based.
The company, which also has an office based at Preston Docks, wants to create a three storey office and conference facility, a gym, industrial starter units and extra parking.
A spokesman for the company said: “As a result of the organisation’s continued success, plans have been submitted to expand our regional hub.
“As a major employer in the Preston area, the expansion of the site is an exciting prospect.”
In planning documents submitted to South Ribble Council the company outlines that it hopes to ‘create a sustainable hub for Places for People at the heart of South Rings Business Park’. It also adds that in January this year Places for People lodged an application to use the proposed site for temporary parking.
This was to replace a previously arrangement with nearby B&Q where they had an allowance of 110 spaces for staff.
The report adds: “The scale and massing of the proposed buildings has been carefully considered to respond to its surrounding context, constraints and building use.
“The largest of the components both in terms of footprint and building height is the office/conference element which is contained to three storeys in keeping with the established norm.”
Places for People is one of the UK’s largest housing providers, owning or managing 143,000 homes. The firm recently agreed a new £100m finance package with Lloyds Bank to help fund its nationwide regeneration projects.
