A Leyland mum is hosting a family fun day to raise awareness of her daughter’s illness.
Five-year-old Matilda Moffatt suffers from the rare genetic conditio late infantile battens disease, which leaves her unable to walk or talk and causes seizures.
Her mum Melanie Moffatt is hosting Matilda’s Magical Day on Sunday in Preston’s Avenham Park, from 11am until 5pm, which will feature a fun fair, It’s a Knockout, a beer and cider marquee and stalls.
Melanie said: “I want to get the word out, and I also want to raise money for research and treatments, because I don’t want anybody to go through what Matilda and I are going through.”
Funds raised will go towards Batten Disease Family Association, Rock FM’s Cash for Kids, and the Magic of Matilda fund.
