Three children injured after a car ‘flipped’ on the motorway, remain in hospital.
Police said the accident, involving a Daewoo 4x4, happened after the rear left-side wheel became detached and the driver lost control.
North West Air Ambulance was called to the crash near the westbound junction three of the M55 near Kirkham, at 7pm on Sunday.
It transported one of the children to Manchester Children’s Hospital. Two other children were taken to a local hospital.
Their conditions continue to be descirbed as “significant but not life-threatening or life-changing”.
The two adults in the car were described as “bruised.”
The Highways Agency closed junctions 1-3 of the M55 for several hours while recovery took place.
