One lucky couple from Lancashire have won the honeymoon of a lifetime.
Alex Atkinson, 29, and Christina Cookson, 28, from Higher Walton, Preston are due to be married this Saturday but hadn’t organised a honeymoon.
Now, thanks to lady luck being on their side, they don’t have to.
The pair, who will get married at Brindle St James Church on March 15, followed by a reception at Bartle Hall, Preston entered the competition on specialist website, www.honeymoondreams.co.uk, earlier this year.
Alex, who works in administration said: “We were looking for possible honeymoon destinations on the Internet and when Christina came across the competition she entered with the off chance of winning. There was no questions to be answered, Christina just had to pass her contact details on.”
When the competition closed on February 28, the couple, who met in June 2007, where chosen at random from more than 1,000 entries. Alex said: “Christina was elated! I was a little level headed as they say nothing is free these days but it sunk in when all the details came through, it really is a honeymoon of a lifetime!”
The newlyweds’ honeymoon package will include return flights to Kandolhu Island in the Maldives with seven nights in a Jacuzzi Beach Villa.
And they will have no end of surprises whilst they adjust to life as man and wife with a 30 minute massage per person, flower decoration on bed and fruit basket on arrival and to top it all off a candlelit dinner on the beach with a bottle of sparkling wine.
A spokesman for the website said: “The Maldives are the most sought after destination for honeymooners with over a thousand intimate islands forming this popular honeymoon destination.
“Kandolhu Island is set to be among one of the most popular islands in the Maldives, up there with its sister resort Kuramathi Island Resort, which is our biggest selling honeymoon destination.”
