Bosses behind a city nightclub have had an application to extend their opening hours approved.
Blitz nightclub based at The Mill in Great Shaw Street, Preston, is to extend the hours it plays both live and recorded music and sells alcohol.
Currently the popular venue is open from 8pm until 6am, but the new licence will aloow bosses to open from noon until 6am.
Previously the club could sell alcohol between 8pm and 4am, but this is to change to noon until 5.30am.
There is also a variation to the hours provided for live music from 8pm until 12.30am to noon until 3am every day and the hours provided for recorded music will change from 8pm until 5.30am to noon until 5.30am every day.
The club also wants to be able to exhibit films and dance performances and anything similar to music and dancing from 12 noon until 5.30am every day - this was not in the previous licence.
The licence has been approved but bosses will not be operating under the new hours until a new ID scanner has been installed.
Manager Peter Alexander said: “It is a natural progression, it will allow us to put more live music on.”
The venue works closely with Ships and Giggles and Macs bar and three venues offer a ‘Three in a bed’ deal which includes all the clubs.
The increased opening hours will enable Blitz to be run the ‘after party’ part of the deal.
Blitz opened in September 2012. Peter added: “It’s popular with Preston people, we get a lot of locals which is great and we get students in when they are here.”
