Five youths were due to appear in court today charged with arson following a fire at a Lancashire school.
The boys, aged 11, 12, 13, 13 and 15, and all from Leyland, were charged with arson with intent or reckless as to whether life was endangered and arson with intent to endanger life.
They had been bailed to appear before Preston Youth Court today.
The youths were arrested and bailed following a fire at St Mary’s Catholic Technology College on Royal Avenue in Leyland on Sunday, September 1 last year.
Two weeks after the fire, all pupils started term in empty high school premises in Ribbleton Hall Drive, and by the end of September, pupils from years seven, 10 and 11 returned to the Leyland site.
All pupils returned to the Royal Avenue site before Christmas. Damaged classrooms had to be destroyed.
