A high profile youth conference will be the first of many events in Lancashire to mark Local Democracy Week.

The theme for this year’s Local Democracy Week is how to make your voice heard at a local, national and European level.

The Preston Youth Conference has been planned by Preston Children and Young People’s Trust with Preston Youth Council. It will take place on Monday October 15 at Preston College.

Among the speakers will be County Coun Mark Perks, cabinet member for young people, Guy Topping, who chairs the Preston Youth Zone Plus Board, and Helen Denton, executive director for the children and young people’s directorate.

The conference will also hear from Mick Charnock from Greenland’s Primary school who will give a short presentation on the Primary Parliament.

Young people will then get an opportunity to express their opinions and share their ideas.
