Work ban for pervert dentist

Disgraced: Artur Wiktor has been banned from contact with children and suspended from his work as a dentist.

Disgraced: Artur Wiktor has been banned from contact with children and suspended from his work as a dentist.

A disgraced dentist who attempted to meet a 13-year-old for sex has been banned from working with children.

Artur Wiktor, who previously worked at the Smile Clinic in Deepdale, narrowly escaped a jail sentence after being convicted of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

To outsiders, Wiktor, 51, of Fareham Close, Walton-le-Dale, seemed every bit the hard working professional, well respected in his career.

But as the case against Wiktor unfolded at Preston Crown Court, a darker side of his character emerged.

Wiktor was in fact a sexual predator, living out his fantasies from behind a screen in a sleazy online world.

The Polish citizen - who came to the UK five years ago - was addicted to chatrooms, logging on several times a day to chat to strangers.

In 2011 Wiktor arranged to meet ‘Jenny’, a 13-year-old from Ormskirk in Blockbusters carpark, Corporation Street, Preston.

When he arrived, he was greeted by police officers, and not the schoolgirl he expected to meet.

He told officers: “My only crime is having a dirty mind”, and claimed he had gone to the carpark out of curiosity, not expecting to meet a teenager.

Preston Crown Court heard despite being convicted of the offence, Wiktor still insists he did not commit any offence.

As a result of the offence he has lost his job, his relationship and has had to sell his home at a loss.

Since his arrest Wiktor has been subject to an interim suspension by the General Dental Council, which will now be reviewed in light of his sentence.

Judge Andrew Woolman handed him a 12 month sentence suspended for two years and made him the subject of a 10 year sexual offences prevention order restricting his internet use and contact with children.
