A woman who attacked her boyfriend’s ex-partner has been handed a community order.

Lyndsey Nuttall, 34, of Hesketh Street, Ashton-on-Ribble, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) at Preston Crown Court.

The court heard Nuttall had a fight with the woman after a row about the woman’s daughter.

During the altercation, Nuttall grabbed the woman by the hair and pushed her onto a car bonnet.

The woman suffered a suspected fractured nose and cheekbone, although later medical examinations could not confirm her injuries.

She also suffered stress and had to take three months off work as a result of the attack.

Judge Michael Byrne, sentencing, said: “You have two previous convictions for common assault.

“That is concerning because, although you have managed to rein in your temper and aggression, the fact is there is this underlying potential reaction.

“I am satisfied it is not necessary to deprive you of your liberty.”

He handed Nuttall a three- year community order with three years supervision with the Probation Service.

Judge Byrne said: “You will very soon learn that this sentence is not a soft option.”
