Woman in court over dog order

A woman broke a court order forbidding her from having dogs.

When Lynette Simon took home Jack Russell Tabitha, she was in breach of the ban, magistrates heard.

Simon, 48, of Meadow View, Great Plumpton, Preston, admitted the breach. She was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge when she appeared at Blackpool. Sharon Child, prosecuting, said that Simon had three dogs at one stage, Tabitha and two collies.

She was prosecuted after problems with the dogs including fouling footpaths and worrying sheep.

Magistrates originally made a destruction order on the dogs but this was appealed to the Crown Court.

The higher court then imposed the 10-year banning order as long as the dogs were rehomed. They were all found new homes but Simon, a single parent, gave way to pressure from her family to have Tabitha back for a short time.
