A woman has pleaded guilty to a street assault in Preston in which a teenage girl was injured with a knife.

Emma Whalley, 26, of Lovat Road, Deepdale, Preston, attacked a young woman outside her home, a court heard.

A judge heard how the 17-year-old victim suffered a puncture wound to her abdominal area.

Whalley pleaded guilty to two charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

However she denied a charge of wounding with intent at a hearing on Monday.

The alternative pleas were accepted by the Crown.

Whalley will now appear at Preston Crown Court for her sentencing on February 8.
