HAPPY couple Kate and Frazer Seed became the first ever to tie the knot on a British beach after winning a TV competition.

But millions of viewers missed the actual moment they were pronounced man and wife after breakfast presenters on ITV’s Daybreak cut to an advert break just as bride Kate, 23, began to say her vows.

The couple and their family and friends gathered in a specially erected marquee on Bournemouth beach, which has just become the first officially licenced to hold weddings.

Daybreak provided make up and hair, a wedding dress for Kate and a suit for Frazer. Despite grim forecasts, the rain held off as the pair wed at 8.10am yesterday.

Groom Frazer, 31, had just promised to “love, cherish and be faithful” his bride when presenters Kate Garraway and Dan Lobb appeared on screen and Garraway announced an ad break.

Minutes later, viewers saw a brief shot of the couple kissing to the sound of cheering from their guests as Garraway said: “That big cheer is because Kate and Frazer have just been pronounced man and wife.”

A Daybreak spokesman said: “The wedding was interrupted due to a technical issue.”

The Lostock Hall couple were delighted with their big day. Kate, nee Smith, said: “It’s been absolutely perfect, we couldn’t have asked for better.”

She briefly suffered nerves as the big moment approached but said: “Once I was down the aisle, I didn’t even think about the cameras, I just thought about all our friends and family that were there. I probably wouldn’t have been able to speak if I’d thought about all the people watching!”

Frazer said: “It was brilliant in Bournemouth! I couldn’t possibly have imagined any better. Strangely, I haven’t been nervous at all. I think Kate was freaking out that I wasn’t freaking out – I think she thought I was going to suddenly run off into the sea!”

TV chiefs had one more surprise for the couple – a luxurious 13-day all expenses paid honeymoon aboard the cruise ship Ventura, stopping off in Rome, Piza, Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

The couple garnered thousands of viewers votes to win the Daybreak competition after viewers heard how Frazer proposed as Kate lay in A and E after a serious car smash last year. She suffered catastrophic injuries and spent two weeks in intensive care and five weeks in hospital. But Frazer helped nurse her back to health, including cramming friends and family into her hospital room for an engagement party.
