A junior sports club will be celebrating its 10th anniversary next week.

Leyland Lions junior squash and racketball will be marking the occasion with a week of activities from Monday to Friday.

Laura Massaro from Chorley, currently number two ranked squash player in the world, will open the events on Monday at 11.30am.

Also attending will be Bradley Smith, also from Chorley, who is an ex Leyland Lions Junior squash player.

In October, 17-year-old Bradley was selected to play for England Under 19s in the world junior squash championships.

The events will run all week to mark the 10th anniversary since John Gibson set up the club in 2004.

On Monday there will be the official opening, and racketball and squash exhibition matches.

On Tuesday, a “minisquash” event will be held for five to 11 year olds at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Racketball for girls aged 11 to 15 will be held on Wednesday at the same times, and squash for girls and boys will take place on Thursday.

On Friday, from 11am to 3pm there will be a fun day of events.

John Gibson said the programme was an opportunity for youngsters who have never played the support to take part in the free sessions.
