A nurse working at one of Lancashire’s leading schools took his own life after learning he was to face charges of voyeurism, an inquest heard.
Neil Riley, 54, who worked at Stonyhurst College, had been arrested by police in November last year after concerns were raised by fellow members of staff.
He was found dead at his home on Walmesley Street, in Great Harwood, five days later, on November 16.
Riley was on bail at the time, pending an examination of cameras seized from him, as well as other computer equipment.
East Lancashire Coroner Michael Singleton, sitting at Blackburn Coroners’ Court on Tuesday, delivered a verdict of suicide. The cause of death was hanging.
Riley was not a teaching member of staff at the college, which is one of the country’s leading independent Catholic boarding schools.
