Video aims to show more about councillors

People can find out about being a county councillor in a new video from Lancashire County Council.

This video shows some of the councillors involved in their daily work – meeting people, listening to their concerns and dealing with local issues. It is online at www.lancashire.gov.uk/beacouncillor.

Council bosses say the idea is to show people what being a councillor involves and get people to think about standing for election.

Lancashire’s voters go to the polls on Thursday May 2 next year when all 84 seats on the county council will be involved.

Phil Halsall, chief executive of the county council, said: “Being a county councillor is a privileged position which allows you to make a real difference to people’s lives.

“We wanted to show people that county councillors have a range of different aspects to their role. They work hard to represent the views of local people, champion specific issues and serve their area.”
