Vandals have caused more than £20,000 of damage to a former nightclub.

The yobs threw bricks and rocks at The Edge on Preston Street in Kirkham, leaving extensive damage.

Five large double-glazed windows were ruined in the smashing spree, which took place sometime between 9am on Wednesday, May 2 and 9am on Bank Holiday Monday May 7.

The former nightclub has been closed for about a year.

Sgt Niamh O’Donoghue, from Kirkham and Rural Fylde neighbourhood policing unit, said: “The estimated cost of damage caused by these vandals is in excess of £20,000.

“This amount of damage is very unusual in Kirkham and if anyone knows anything that could assist us with our investigation I’d urge them to please contact Kirkham Enquiry desk on 01253 604734.”

Anyone with information can also ring Lancashire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
