A transit van driver who only narrowly avoided smashing head-on into a heavy goods vehicle outside the gates of a school has been banned from driving for six months.
Lancaster Magistrates heard a police motorcylist witnessed the near-miss outside Morecambe High School in Dallam Avenue.
Thomas Graham Michael Lloyd, 27, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and was fined £175.
The court heard the police motorcyclist watched as Lloyd, of Anstable Road, Morecambe, drove round a blind bend in Dallam Road. The driver of a lorry coming the opposite way was forced to brake severely to avoid a collision.
Lloyd’s yellow Transit had to swerve to the nearside before coming to a halt. He was also given seven penalty points on his licence.
