Three men have been charged with the murder of Preston teenager Jonjo Highton.
Owen Whitesmith, 19 of Glebe Close, Preston; Arron Graham, 22 of Ripon Street, Preston and Craig Walton, 26 of Watling Street Road, Preston, were charged on Wednesday night.
They appeared before Preston Magistrates Court yesterday where they were remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on Monday.
A ninth man, aged 20 from Preston, was arrested on Wednesday evening on suspicion of murder, taking the total of people who remain in police custody to five.
A 27-year-old man of no fixed address has been bailed pending further enquiries in relation to murder and reported for summons in connection with being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Police were called at around 11.20pm on Saturday to St Stephen’s Road in Preston.
Police and paramedics attended and Mr Highton was found in the street with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation led by Detective Superintendent Eddie Thistlethwaite is continuing.
Officers are still looking to trace a vehicle that may be connected with the incident.
Det Supt Thistlethwaite said: “We continue to make good progress with this investigation, however we are still keen to trace people who may have been involved in the incident. I would encourage anyone with any information at all about the murder to contact the police before we visit you.
“I am continuing to appeal for information about the current whereabouts of a car which may have been involved in the crime, a blue Vauxhall Vectra, registration KG04 EJU. Do you know the whereabouts of this vehicle?
“Have you been innocently sold this car or asked to scrap it since Saturday?
“Do you know who has used this car within the last few weeks?”
