Two people have been arrested in connection with an attack outside a pub that left an 18-year-old woman needing plastic surgery.

The teenager and her 19-year-old male friend were attacked when they tried to break up a fight between a man and a woman outside the Continental pub in South Meadow Lane, Preston, at around 11.30pm on Saturday, July 26.

Police say the couple, who had been guests at a wedding reception, kicked the 19-year-old male victim unconscious and smashed a glass into the face of the 18-year-old woman.

Det Insp Paddy O’Neill said the level of violence was “disgraceful and is completely unacceptable”.

A 28-year-old woman from Lostock Hall and a 32-year-old man from Walton-le-Dale have been arrested on suspicion of assault.
