TV appeal for fatal house fire

A police appeal for information about a fatal house fire in Freckleton will be shown on Crimewatch tonight.

The programme, on BBC One at 9pm, renews the appeal for information to try and establish the full circumstances leading to the deaths of Reece Smith, 19, four-year-old twin girls Holly and Ella Smith and Jordan Smith, two, who all died from smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.

Since the fire at the house on Lytham Road, Freckleton on January 7, detectives have been piecing together the events of that night and are continuing to investigate the case.

Officers have carried out extensive enquires including speaking to hundreds of members of the community, and the launch of a social media campaign with appeals on Facebook and YouTube and have turned to Crimewatch in a bid to get further information.

Det Supt Dermott Horrigan said: “We have had a good response from the media and the public so far, however we are still appealing to anyone who may have any information who may not have spoken to the police or someone who has spoken to the police but have important information that they have not yet told us. It is not too late to come forward.

“Somebody knows exactly what happened that night, and who set fire to the wardrobe. I would ask them to search their conscience and tell us the truth about what happened.”
