Nancy Talbot has retired from the Church of England in Lancashire after holding the role of Bishop’s Advisor for Child Protection for seven years.
Nancy has a background in child protection and worked for more than 30 years at Lancashire County Council covering the Preston and Lancaster area. She is also a trained counsellor.
Church leaders said that during her period with the diocese, she built up excellent relationships with local authorities, police and the probation service, among many others.
Nancy, who lives in Fulwood, is now looking forward to spending more time with her family.
A retirement party was held at Whalley Abbey, which was attended by senior diocese clergy and staff, plus friends and colleagues from other organisations Nancy had worked with.
Rt Rev John Goddard, Bishop of Burnley and Acting Bishop of Blackburn, said: “We are very grateful to Nancy for all her hard work over the past few years.
“We wish her a long and very happy retirement.”
Kaley Vaughton has been appointed safeguarding advisor for the diocese. She can be contacted on kaley.vaughton@blackburn.anglican.org with any safeguarding queries or concerns.
