PNE tweeted: “The Preston North End players will all wear shirts with the name ‘Finney’ on the back for today’s game and their respective squad numbers.

“There will be a one minute’s silence prior to kick-off with the players wearing black arm bands as a mark of respect for Sir Tom.”

PNE owner Trevor Hemmings said: “As a player, as a person, as an ambassador for football in general and Preston North End in particular, the world will never see the like of Sir Tom again.

My thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.”
