The parents of tragic toddler Aiden Cairns have had their bail extended by police as investigations continue into how the 13-month-old died.
Tasha Hough, 25, and Liam Cairns, 25, who were both arrested in March, have been re-bailed until July 29.
The pair were taken into custody by officers from Lancashire Police’s Major Incident Team two months ago, days after the youngster was pronounced dead at the Royal Preston Hospital.
Paramedics visited a flat in Church Street, Preston early on March 22 responding to a 999 call reporting a child suffering from suspected cardiac or respiratory problems. The parents were later quizzed before being allowed out on bail to await the results of a post mortem and toxicology tests.
Two months on the case is still being investigated and, when the couple answered to bail in Preston yesterday, they were re-bailed for a further two months.
