A shoplifter has been jailed for 24 weeks after stealing £125 of goods from HMV shortly after he was released from prison.
David Rowlinson, 37, of Blackburn Old Road, Hoghton, Preston, stole a £50 Playstation 3 headset from the Preston branch on August 29 this year.
He returned to the store two days later, on August 31, and stole a £75 boxed DVD set.
Rowlinson admitted both offences in a short hearing at Preston Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates said the offences were so serious because Rowlinson “has a flagrant disregard for court orders” and because “he offended very soon after his release from prison.”
They said the offences were also aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending.
Magistrates handed Rowlinson 12-week prison sentences on each count to be served consecutively.
