Teenager spared jail after city flat attack

Preston Crown Court

Preston Crown Court

A teenager has been spared jail after a fracas at a house in Preston.

Nathan Porteous, 18, pleaded guilty to affray after being arrested with a 15-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons.

Police were called to the flat in Eldon Street following reports a man had been stabbed.

Porteous and the youth were initially charged with wounding with intent but later pleaded guilty to affray at a hearing at Preston Crown Court. The 24-year-old victim was treated in hospital for a punctured diaphragm.

Both defendants spent time on remand.

Charges against the younger boy were left to lie on the file but
Porteous, of Eldon Street, Plungington, was last week handed an eight month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

Porteous must now carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and have 18 months supervision with the probation service.

He must also pay a £100 statutory surcharge.
