A teenager who hoped to beat the security system at a Kirkham supermarket by hiding whisky in a foil-lined bag has been jailed.
Ionut Tudor, 19, of Birmingham, who had the court proceedings relayed to him by a Romanian interpreter, pleaded guilty to theft of a bottle of Jack Daniels and having a bag for the use in theft.
He was jailed for 12 weeks when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.
The court heard Tudor was seen acting suspiciously on October 2 but claimed the foil lined bag was to keep food fresh.
The court heard he had come to the area looking for work.
He did not receive benefits and lived on the kindness of friends and other Rumanian nationals.
