Teen's film role by royal appointment

A teenager is dreaming of the big time after making her film debut in a Hollywood production.

Fiona Corlett, 18, of The Pennines, Fulwood, plays a maid of honour in the Coronation scene of The Young Victoria, starring Emily Blunt.

Fiona appears with Queen Victoria's real great, great, great, great-grandaughter, Princess Beatrice.

Fiona, who studies at Newman College, said: "It was in Lincoln Cathedral which is a beautiful place. We'd have to get in make-up at about 5am.

"Then we'd be filming right through the day. I was carrying Queen Victoria's train as she was getting coronated and standing by her."

Fiona spent three days on location with Emily and Rupert Friend, who plays Prince Albert.

She said: "They were lovely. I talked to Emily and she was so nice. She would just talk to me like anyone would.

"When we were filming she was just laughing away up until the point where they shout action and then she'd get straight into character. It's nice to meet Princess Beatrice, and an honour."

Princess Beatrice's mother The Duchess of York is a co-producer of the film, which charts Queen Victoria's ascension to the throne at 18.

Fiona said: "The costumes were really grand. It was all authentic to what they actually wore. "

The non-speaking role came about as Fiona's Hollywood-based, Oscar-winning uncle Graham King, is a producer on the film. Fiona says her dream job is to be an actress but she plans to go to Lancaster University in September to do a degree in management.

She also attended the film premiere in London last night.
