A teenager has been jailed for five and a half years after a man was stabbed in a late night attack.
Leon Littlechild, 18, of Hawthorn Road, Ribbleton, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court after being charged with section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent.
On December 7 last year two males were stabbed on Plungington Road, Preston while walking home from the city centre.
It happened close to the Spar shop and the Ziba takeaway.
The attack involved a group of youths who fought with the two victims, during which they were both stabbed, one sustaining a deep stab wound requiring hospital treatment and the other serious facial injuries.
Littlechild was charged with a Section 18 assault against one of the victims.
DC Robin Costigan said: “It was two guys walking home from the town centre and got to that area and there has been a group of youths and an altercation has started. One of the victims who is 46, he was 45 at the time, was stabbed to his right side. It was quite a nasty wound that required hospital treatment.
“The other one was set upon and he received nasty facial injuries that required a metal plate to be inserted into his face.”
DC Costigan added: “There was a few people about, it was a Friday night and it happened about 11pm.
“There were quite a few people about and eventually after several minutes of this attack the youths just made off. We arrived and they were taken to hospital and treated.”
He added: “This was a completely unprovoked attack on two men by a larger group of youths who were in the area at the time.
“I am pleased with the sentence that has been given and I hope it sends out a strong message to anyone thinking of committing this type of crime that it won’t be tolerated.”
