Hundreds of people turned out for the first day of the Winckley Weekend Festival yesterday.
Families, co-workers and students enjoyed a range of events designed to bring the spirit of Preston Guild 2012 back to Preston.
There was a vintage fair, street performers and fashion shows throughout the day and cafes and bars in Winckley Street were open throughout the day and into the evening.
And there’s still plenty more to come today with the festival running from 10am until 10pm.
The Guild City Stage will be providing music throughout the day and as well as fairs and fashion shows there will also be blue badge guided history tours of Winckley Square.
Tim Joel, events manager at Preston Council, said: “The weekend has got off to a great start and has been really busy and the feedback from traders and visitors so far has been fantastic.
“There is lots going on today and we expect people to stay well into the evening with street cafes, bars, traders and attractions staying open.
“There has been a real sense of community which is something we wanted to capture from the Guild and we are looking forward to another exciting day.”
