Sue McGuire, Lib Dem candidate for South Ribble parliamentary seat

South Ribble Liberal Democrats have chosen Sue McGuire as their prospective parliamentary candidate to contest the seat at the 2015 general election.

Mrs McGuire is a local business woman who started her own IT company in 1990 with her husband, and is a Sefton Borough Councillor.

Mother of two teenagers, she grew up in the constituency in Banks, and went to Tarleton High and Hutton Grammar schools, before graduating from Newcastle University. A former North West Regional Chair of the Liberal Democrats, she was also a candidate at the 2009 European Elections.

She is keen to improve transport links in the area, including opening the Burscough Curves and Midge Hall station, and completing the Penwortham by-pass, and is also keen that the fracking process is properly scrutinised and regulated.

Constituency Chairman, Councillor David Howarth said “It is refreshing to have a candidate who grew up in the constituency and knows the area, especially the more remote villages that do not receive much attention.”
