Detectives are appealing for information after a female student was sexually assaulted in Preston last week.

The 22-year-old woman was walking along Ribbleton Lane towards the city centre at around 7pm on Thursday, October 25.

As she reached Fitzgerald Street, she was grabbed by man who then subjected her to a serious sexual assault.

Her attacker then ran off towards Cemetery Road.

The man has been described as Asian or of mixed race appearance, around 5ft 8in and aged between 16 and 18.

Det Insp Jo Edwards, of Preston Police, said: “We are continuing with a number of lines of investigation and I would appeal for anyone with any information that they think may be useful to get in touch.

“In particular, I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have been in the Ribbleton Lane or Fitzgerald Street area that evening who may have seen anything suspicious.”

Police have released an EvoFit image of the attacker.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Preston CID by calling 101 or alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
