Firefighters were called to rescue swans stranded in water in Lancaster.
The fire service was called by the RSPCA at about 2.15pm on Wednesday to assist two swans which got stuck in disused water holding tanks at St George’s Quay.
Crew manager Alex Shaw said: “There are two areas of open water there which are large enough for a swan to land on but not large enough for a swan to take off from.
“We went along and gained access to the water for the RSPCA, and they had their own dry suits so they can go into the water.
“We put the ladder into the water for them, helped them down and helped them lift out the swans.”
He added: “The RSPCA put the swans in a specially designed swan bag, and we helped lift it out and they put it in the back of their van.
“It was something different for us.
“Nothing was harmed - they were perfectly fine.”
