Charity is given £200k grant
Struggling young families will be able to receive emotional support, friendship and practical help, thanks to a £200,000 grant to Homestart Morecambe and Lancaster. The organisation has been awarded the money from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme.
Preston’s indoor market will be operating Christmas opening hours throughout the festive season. The market will be open from 8am until 3pm from Sunday, December 22 through to Christmas Eve, and from 8am to 3pm on December 31.
Woman said she would jump
A woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after threatening to jump into the River Ribble. Firefighters and police were called to Broadgate in Preston at around 3.30pm yesterday. Officers said a 44-year-old woman was detained under the Mental Health Act.
