A long-standing trustee of St John’s Hospice’s board has retired after 18 years.
Brenda Flanagan has stood down from the board of the Lancaster-based hospice after 18 years.
Colleagues treated her to a champagne afternoon tea at the Midland Hotel in Morecambe as a thank you for her years of service.
Chairman of the board, Rob Daunt said: “Brenda has been a great supporter and campaigner for St John’s since fundraising to build the hospice began in 1980.
“Since then, she has undertaken a number of major roles, not least of which was being the champion for our fundraising team.
After joining in 1980, Brenda later chaired the Lancaster Support Group to raise money to build the hospice. In 1985 she established and developed a volunteer programme and she was Chairman of the Friends of St John’s.
She became a trustee in 1995 and has chaired the fundraising and marketing subcommittee.
