Snow forecast for this weekend

Weather forecasters have issued a warning for snowy weather across Lancashire this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow’ warning for the county effective from midnight on Sunday.

It said the warning would run into Monday until at least 11pm.

The Met Office said: “There is a risk that a band of rain spreading from the southwest during Sunday will turn to sleet and snow.

“There is the potential for accumulations up to 10 cm in places and the public should be aware of possible disruption to travel.”

It added there was “potential for further accumulations of up to 10cm in places and ice will increasingly become a hazard” on Monday.

The ‘yellow’ warning urges people to ‘be aware’ of the impact of snow both to homes and transport routes.
