Volunteers are needed for a scheme to deliver lessons to schoolchildren about the Lancaster Canal.

The Canal & River Trust is looking to recruit a team of education volunteers to work with schools in Lancaster and help children learn about their local waterway.

The Trust’s education programme runs sessions for primary schools, cub scouts and brownie groups in their own classrooms and out and about on local canals. Lessons cover subjects relating to the history, nature and wildlife of the Lancaster Canal and use specially designed resources tailored to this.

People interested in joining the charity’s team are encouraged to attend an open day on Friday February 28, from 10am to 3pm, at Lancaster Library.
