Royal Show is ready to go
The marquees are erected, trade stands have gone up and the stables are in place.
"It's going great," said Gordon Roberts, chairman of the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society.
"The weather's good, there's not too much wind and everyone's working really hard."
Gordon is overseeing last-minute preparations before the show opens its gates to 50,000 people at its new home in Barton near Preston.
The move from Ribchester may have caused controversy but Gordon insists the new location is perfect.
"It's a very exciting site. The way the land lies means people can follow a trail around the showground.
"Every time they turn a corner, there's something new to see. It will be impossible not to enjoy a day here."
Twenty marquees and hundreds of trade stands are in place, offering everything from luxury cocktails to Lancashire Tea.
Thousands of livestock from farms across the county will battle it out to be named best in show, while around 50 horses and riders will pit their wits against a tough course in the showjumping ring.
TV presenter Stuart Hall will open the show on Friday and Coronation Street's Bill Roache will visit on Saturday. And Tracey Dawson, wife of the late Les Dawson, will present prizes in the ladies' marquee.
Fears of traffic chaos had been expressed with the news that the annual show was moving to former quarry land north of Preston.
