Police are appealing for witnesses after a 23-year-old man was robbed in an alleyway in Oswaldtwistle on Friday, January 11.

The robbery took place around 11.30am when the victim was in the rear alleyway of Roe Greave. He was approached by a man who demanded he hand over his mobile phone.

The victim didn’t have a phone and, feeling threatened, he handed over a quantity of notes.

The offender grabbed the cash and ran back down the alleyway towards Union Road.

DS Julie Cross Accrington, of Reactive CID, said: “Fortunately the victim was not hurt but we believe the offender was carrying some form of weapon, possibly a knife. I would appeal to anybody who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the offence or with any information to call Lancashire Police on 101.”

The offender is described as being black, aged 16 to 19 years old, 5ft 9” tall, skinny build with a gaunt face. He was wearing a black hat and black clothing.
