Rise in police patrols following burglaries
Police patrols have been stepped up following a spate of burglaries in the Fylde area.
Two homes in Newton, two in Clifton, one in Lytham and one in Wesham have been targeted over the last three nights. Offenders have mostly been forcing open patio or conservatory doors to get into the property.
Laptops, mobile phones and car keys are among items taken.
Patrols have now been increased in these areas, particularly during the evening, and letter drops are taking place, with officers delivering information about the importance of home security.
Sgt Peter Hannon, of Fylde police, said: “We would ask residents to ensure they lock their doors and windows when they leave their homes or go to bed, and to keep valuable items out of sight so that they don’t create a temptation for thieves. It is also important that if people see something suspicious – such as unknown vehicles driving around or strangers entering gardens or going around the back of properties – that they report it to us as this could prevent a crime from taking place.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101. In an emergency always dial 999.
