Preston TV channel signs up Hollywood star

A Preston television station has signed up Hollywood superstar Ray Winstone as a judge for its film-making competition.

The Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull actor will be on the judging panel for the Young Filmmakers' Competition run by The Life Channel, which has its head office in Maritime Way on the city's docks.

It is running the competition in association with the national Stop Knives Save Lives campaign and is urging students to make a 90-second film on knife crime.

Life Channel chief executive Phil Austin said: "Using our TV networks as a vehicle to spread students' voices to the wider community and really make a difference."

The competition is open to anyone aged 11 to 21 years old and with the top 12 entries judged by a panel which also includes Eastenders actor Joe Swash and former member of the So Solid Crew, Ashley Walters.
