The scene of the attack

A man had his ear and nose bitten in a brutal attack on a Preston street.

Police are today appealing for witnesses following the unprovoked incident in Larches Avenue, Preston.

Officers say the attack happened at around 6.40pm on January 2, but the victim only reported the incident several days later.

Police believe the victim, a 37-year-old man, was walking with his 40-year-old partner close to the junction of Larches Avenue and Blackpool Road when the attack happened.

Without warning, a group of around three men approached the pair from behind and launched the violent assault, punching the victim several times until he hit the ground.

They then continued the assault, repeatedly kicking him and biting him on the ear and nose. They also spat at him.

It is then believed they stole arund £150 in benefits cash from the man’s pocket before running off.

At one point the victim’s partner attempted to intervene and was grabbed by the throat by one of the attackers.

The victim was left with bruises and a cut on his nose.

The attack has also left a mark on his ear.

Detectives investigating the incident today urged anyone who saw the attack or has any information to get in touch.

Call Preston Police on 101.
