A family was left terrified after a gang of machete wielding men tried to force their way into their home.
The gang of three men, who were all dressed in dark clothing, tried to force their way into the terraced property in Chester Road, Ribbleton, just after 11pm on Tuesday.
The men first tried to gain access through a rear door but after the brave occupants, including a man, his girlfriend, his step-mother and a young child, managed to fend off the attackers, they smashed the window of the rear door before running round to the front of the house and smashing a window on the front door.
Unable to gain access to the address the offenders left the street.
Nobody was injured in the ordeal but the family were left shaken.
Now police have launched an investigation and are appealing for information about the incident.
Detective Inspector Keith Lee from Preston Police said: “It is clear this house has been deliberately targeted and I would stress that we believe this is an isolated incident and we have reassurance patrols in the area“
“An investigation is underway but I would appeal to anyone who may have any information that could assist with our inquiry to contact Preston Police on 101.”
