editorial image

This is the man police are hunting in connection with a terrifying attempted knifepoint robbery on a taxi driver.

The incident happened at around 1am on Saturday, November 3, after the driver had been called to pick up a passenger in Yew Trees Avenue, on the Grange estate, Ribbleton, Preston.

The Evening Post reported appeals over the incident at the time.

But police have now released this Evofit image in a bid to track the offender down.

Police said the offender opened the driver’s nearside passenger door, leaned into the vehicle and pulled out a knife, demanding money.

The driver managed to drive away from the scene.

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall, aged in his early 20s and with a slim build.

Det Cons Darren Caunce, of Preston CID, said: “This was a horrific incident on a lone taxi driver in the early hours of the morning which has affected him greatly.

“I appeal for any witnesses to the incident or who may be able to identify the above person to contact the Police as a matter of urgency”
