Pensioner hit by car as she crossed street

An elderly woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a car while crossing a road in Preston.

Police said the 88-year-old was struck by a blue Ford Focus in Blackpool Road, Deepdale, close to the junction with Manor House Lane, at around 11.20am on Tuesday.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment for multiple injuries, where she remains in a stable condition.

The road was closed for around an hour while the scene was cleared and officers have appealed for witnesses.

PC Matt Davidson said: “The area was very busy at the time and so I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to get in touch with us if they have any information that they think could help.”
